KATHMANDU, Dec 17: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has said the government will not tolerate any activities that disrupt peace, undermine law and order, or promote anarchy and criminal behavior.
Speaking at a programme organized by Lalitpur Metropolitan City on the occasion of its 107th anniversary on Wednesday, Prime Minister Karki said the government remains vigilant to ensure that no form of disorder is allowed to take root in society. She also called on communities to cooperate in resisting such activities.
“I want to make it clear that no kind of anarchy should be allowed in society. The security agencies are capable and active in controlling activities that disturb peace or attempt to take the law into one’s own hands,” she said. “The role of the community is equally important in resisting such negative elements. Let us work together on this.”

Prime Minister Karki said the government is currently focused on two main agendas—good governance and elections. She claimed that extensive preparations have already been completed by working round the clock to ensure the House of Representatives election is held on the scheduled date of March 5.
“We are fully focused on good governance and elections. With the objective of holding the House of Representatives election on March 5, the government and the Election Commission have already made significant progress by working day and night,” she said. “We are eager to transfer power to a government that reflects the new public mandate expressed through elections.”
She urged all stakeholders to cooperate in conducting the elections in a cost-effective, clean, fair, and fear-free environment.
Reiterating her stance, the prime minister said elections are the only viable option to move the country forward in line with constitutional provisions, democratic values, and the path of good governance.
