Govt decides to dissolve land commission formed by Oli-led government a year ago

KATHMANDU, Oct 10: The government has decided to abolish the Land Commission, which the former government led by KP Oli had set up a year ago to address the squatters’ problem.



The cabinet meeting held on Thursday decided to invalidate the Land Commission and all district committees formed under the Land Commission Formation Order 2024, said government spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jagdish Kharel.

The cabinet also decided to allow the Nepal Electricity Authority to issue energy bonds worth Rs 20 billion in phases to manage financial resources for the construction of hydropower projects. Similarly, the government has decided to declare Ilam district a disaster-hit area for the next three months.


In addition, the meeting approved the promotion of Deputy Inspector General of Police Sushil Singh Rathore, Uma Prasad Chaturvedi, Himalaya Kumar Shrestha, and Dambar Bahadur Bishwakarma to the post of Additional Inspector General of Police.
