Govt committed to rights of domestic help: Minister Belbase

KATHMANDU, Oct 19: Minister for Labour and Employment Kumar Belbase has said the government would take an initiative to draft the Domestic Help Policy.



Taking part in an interaction program organized by the Second Domestic Help Day on Fridaay, Minister Belbase said although the government was serious towards the implementation of the domestic help policy, problem to this has surfaced as the nation was running without parliament. [break]



The government was committed to ensuring all sorts of rights of domestic help, he said. Trade unions have demanded the formulation of domestic help policy and approval of ILO convention 177.



The number of domestic help in Nepal is estimated to be over 2 million and of them 74 percent are women.
