“The political impasse will not be over till the current government remains in power," he said, adding, “The constitution writing process will not be completed unless the government is changed.” [break]
Gautam, who was in Bardiya to address a function organized by the community forest users´ groups of 15 districts, said, “The current government has failed to work as per the people´s aspirations.”
He said the government has also failed to take forward the integration process for Maoist combatants as per the provisions of the Comprehensive Peace Accord.
Gautam said the UML leaders will create pressure on Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal to ensure timely constitution. “At this juncture, the UML should work to save the nation and shouldn´t run for power," he said.
He said the new constitution is possible only if the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and UCPN-Maoist forge consensus. He also urged the Maoists to be flexible on the leadership of the next government.
