Government employee unions close offices in Siraha

SIRAHA, Sept 16: All government offices, financial institutions and local bodies are closed in Siraha district on Thursday on the call of government employees’ unions.



The unions have called the strike demanding release of Feku Yadav who was arrested on Monday from the office of Village Development Committee (VDC) secretaries.[break]



According to VDC Welfare Protection Center Jagadev Yadav, police arrested Yadav without a warrant from his office.



Pradip Kumar Goit, the co-ordinator for the Employees’ Joint Struggle Committee, claimed that Yadav is being tortured in custody. He also added that despite their repeated requests, the chief district office and district police chief did not release Yadav.



Police claimed that Yadav was arrested for his involvement in an attack to police post.
