GORKHA, Aug 1: The Gorkha District has generated a total of Rs 2.01 million in revenue from the collection and export of medicinal herbs in the last Fiscal Year (FY) 2024/25.
According to the Division Forest Office and the Manaslu Conservation Area Project, a total of 46,974 kilograms of herbs were collected and exported from various rural municipalities in the district.
Diversifying Government Revenue
The Manaslu region alone contributed 11,392 kilograms of herbs, yielding revenue of Rs 1.27 million, according to the conservation project office. Project Chief Santosh Sherchan stated that revenue worth Rs 1.08 million was generated from the collection of 34.19 kilograms of Yarsagumba alone.
Other herbs collected from the Manaslu area include Bukiphool, Padamchal, Rato Chyau (red mushroom), Nirmasi, Tukiphool, Timur, Dhupi, Sunpati, Setakchini, Gulaf, Jimbu and Chiraito.
Outside of the Manaslu region, 35,582 kilograms of herbs were collected, contributing Rs 745,985 to the state coffers. Among them, Jatamasi brought in the highest revenue, amounting to Rs 356,250.
