KATHMANDU, Nov 10: Today marks the 111th birth anniversary of Ganeshman Singh, the esteemed leader of the 2046 BS People's Movement, celebrated through various events. Singh, a symbol of sacrifice and bravery in Nepali politics, became a focal point of loyalty for many.
Following the triumph of the 2046 BS People's Movement, when then King Birendra offered him the role of Prime Minister, he chose to nominate his fellow leader Krishna Prasad Bhattarai instead, exemplifying a remarkable act of sacrifice in Nepali politics.

Born on 24 Kartik 1972 BS in Kshetrapati, Kathmandu, leader Singh passed away on 2 Ashoj 2054 BS. Hailing from a distinguished family in Kathmandu, Singh joined Nepal's first political party, the Praja Parishad, founded in 1940, and was actively involved in the struggle to dismantle the Rana regime. His participation in the anti-Rana campaign led to his imprisonment by the then government, but he managed to escape from Bhadra Gol Jail in 2007, having already been engaged in the anti-Rana movement.
After his escape and arrival in India, he forged political ties with another prominent leader, B.P. Koirala. Together with several allies, Ganesh Man significantly contributed to the enduring leadership of the Nepali National Congress, which was established in 2003. As a key figure in the 2007 revolution aimed at establishing democracy, he took part in armed conflicts at the Birgunj front.
Singh remained dedicated to restoring democracy in the nation, consistently aligning himself ideologically with B.P. Koirala and actively promoting the Nepali Congress.
