Fugitive arrested from New Baneshwor

The Kathmandu District Court had sentenced Karki to one year in prison on July 12, 2022, for his involvement in a financial fraud case. He had been on the run since the pronouncement of the verdict.

KATHMANDU, April 11: A fugitive, who was convicted in a financial fraud case, has been arrested from New Baneshwor.


Yakshadhwoj Karki, 69, a resident of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-32 and originally from Gaurishankar Rural Municipality-8, Dolakha, was taken into custody by police on Thursday afternoon.

The Kathmandu District Court had sentenced Karki to one year in prison on July 12, 2022, for his involvement in a financial fraud case. He had been on the run since the pronouncement of the verdict.


He was arrested by a team from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office in Teku, and has been sent to the District Court for execution of the court's decision, the police said.
