Amar Shah,21, of Janakpur municipality-8 was arrested on the charge of murdering his 22-year-old friend Gauri Mishra of Janakpur-4.
Chandan Shah,19, of the same locality was an accomplice in the crime. But he remains at large, police said.
A BBS student at Model Campus, Janakpur, Mishra was severely injured in the knife attack by his friends, and succumbed to his injuries at the Janakpur Zonal Hospital.
Police have launched a manhunt for Chandan Shah.
