Fresh 4.8-magnitude aftershock rattles valley

KATHMANDU, May 22: A fresh aftershock measuring 4.8 in the Richter scale has rocked the Kathmandu Valley with its epicenter between Dhading and Nuwakot.

The tremors were felt in Kathmandu, Dhading and Nuwakot districts at 4: 44 pm on Friday.


According to National Seismological Center, this is the 254th aftershock following the 7.6-magnitude earthquake that rocked the country on April 25.

Aftershocks measuring 4.2 and 4.1 were also recorded at 2:45 pm and 5:30 pm respectively.

The death toll caused by the devastating earthquake has reached 8,635 as of today.
