Fraud gang posing as Nepal Bank active on social media, public urged to stay vigilant

Nepal Bank Limited has warned customers to stay alert as fraudsters increasingly misuse its name and logo on social media platforms.

KATHMANDU, April 19: Nepal Bank Limited has warned customers to stay alert as fraudsters increasingly misuse its name and logo on social media platforms.


The bank stated that various individuals and groups have used its logo and photos on platforms like Facebook, X, YouTube, TikTok, WhatsApp, IMO, and Viber to deceive people. These scammers have lured victims with fake loan approval letters, lottery and gift schemes, and offers of online and part-time jobs.

The bank reported a rise in complaints about unauthorized individuals responding to customer queries on its social media posts by sending scam links, requesting personal information, and pretending to call on behalf of the bank to deceive people.


It urged customers to stay vigilant and clarified that it never requests OTPs, links, PIN codes, or passwords for KYC updates, card renewals, online shopping, or money deposits.


The bank has advised its customers to keep their confidential information and numbers private and to implement proper security measures.


Nepal Bank Limited has also encouraged customers to follow only its official social media pages and to contact the nearest branch or call 01–5571222 for more information.
