The jeep (Se 1 Ja 329) traveling from Dipayal of Doti to Mahendranagar tumbled some 100 meters from the road at Amagardai Municipality-1. All the passengers in the jeep were heading to Khati, India via Mahendranagar for medical treatment, informed Krishna Prasain, the chief of the District Police Office of Dadeldhura district. [break]
The deceased have been identified as Riyona Devi Majhi, 35; Kamala Majhi, 38; Dil Bahadur Majhi, 39; and three-year-old Netra Majhi of Dipayal Silgadhi Municipality-9 of Doti district. All the dead are from the same family, informed District Police Office in Dadeldhura.
Among the injured, the condition of three passengers is critical and they are undergoing medical treatment at Koholpur Medical College in Banke district. Five others are undergoing treatment at local TEAM hospital.
Mandhari Saud, 35, Raj Bir Saud, 4, Kailash Saud, 38, Santosh Saud, 28, and Bhim Majhi all from of Dipayal Silgadhi -9; Saraswati Majhi, 35 and Sangita Prajapati, 35 of Dipayal Silgadhi -7; and Ratoli and Bishal Sah, 25, of Pachanali VDC were injured in the accident, police said.
Parsai said the accident occured due to the driver´s negligence. “The jeep met the accident because the driver was talking on his cell phone while driving,” Prasain said. Likewise, the injured passengers also said the jeep was speeding and the driver would frequently talk on his phone.
This is the seventh road accident along the hilly highway in the last six months.
