SUNSARI, November 25: The injured locals of the Haripur-7 of Sunsari have clarified that they are innocent. They were shot at by Indian Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel on the charge of smuggling chemical fertilizers from India this morning.
A team of six SSB personnel fired shots at four people this morning when locals were huddling around on a fire to warm themselves in their neighborhood.
SSB personnel had come there chasing the smugglers.
India denies incident of firing by SSB
According to Saroj Yadav,30, who received bullets in his right leg, SSB shot at them after they expressed their ignorance regarding the people who smuggled the chemical fertilizers from India.
The incident occurred as the locals prevented SSB personnel to carry out raid their houses on suspicion of storing the smuggled chemical fertilizers and fired bullets at them.
The incident place lies some 500 meters inside from the Indian border.
Naresh Yadav, 18, has received bullets in his waist while his neighborer Ashok Yadav has right side of his chest and undergoing treatment at Intensive Care Unit of the BP Koirala Health Science Academy in Dharan. He is said to be in critical condition.
Manoj Yadav has suffered minor injury in the incident.
