Four arrested for involvement in human trafficking

According to the DPO, the four people were arrested for tempting girls with lucrative jobs and engaging them in prostitution with customers of the hotel.

PARSA, Feb 1: Police rounded up four people on Thursday from Parsa for their involvement in human trafficking. 


According to the District Police Office (DPO), Parsa, the arrested individuals have been identified as Manejar Ray, 35, of Bardahiya-11, Madhaura Gram Panchayat, Chhapra Police Station, Bihar State, India; Sukrati Chaudhary, 32, of Tikuliya, Bhangaha Municipality-2, Mahottari; Dipesh Rai, 33, of Okhaldhunga; and Mira Kumari Mahato, 38, of Jitpur Simara Sub-metropolitan City-14, Bara.

A joint team deployed from the DPO and the Inaruwa Police Post Inarwa caught the four individuals while inspecting hotels operating in Birgunj Metropolitan City-16. According to the DPO, the four people were arrested for tempting girls with lucrative jobs and engaging them in prostitution with customers of the hotel. 


The police have also rescued two women who were exploited in such a manner.


The DPO is conducting further investigation in this regard after obtaining permission from the Parsa District Court to extend their remand for a period of a week. The police are pursuing offenses under the Human Trafficking and Smuggling (Control) Act, 2064 BS.
