Former Prez Bhandari is leaving for China on Saturday

Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari is set to leave for  China on a week-long visit to the northern neighbor on Saturday.

KATHMANDU, May 22: Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari is set to leave for  China on a week-long visit to the northern neighbor on Saturday.


She is visiting China at the invitation of the International Department of the Chinese Communist Party  of China. During the visit, she will meet with Chinese officials in Beijing.

The delegation accompanying her includes UML Secretary and Foreign Department Chief Raghubir Mahaseth, Industry Minister Damodar Bhandari, UML Permanent Committee Member Karna Bahadur Thapa, leaders Goma Devkota and Devi Bhatta, among others.


Bhandari had planned to visit China last September, but the trip was postponed. Her decision to take UML leaders along suggests she may be looking to re-engage in active politics.
