Confirming his move, Yadav said he had quit the NCP led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal before joining JSP-Nepal. When asked by Nagarik News about the reasons behind his departure from the NCP , Yadav deflected the question, saying, “You should ask NCP leader Matrika Prasad Yadav about that.”
Yadav had served as Minister for Irrigation while representing the Maoist party led by Dahal during the Second Constituent Assembly. In the most recent elections, he contested for a seat in the provincial assembly from constituency 2 of Saptari-2.
He was defeated by Mahesh Prasad Yadav of the Janamat Party.
