KATHMANDU, Dec 21: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairperson Rabi Lamichhane has said there is no alternative to holding elections, warning that attempts to disrupt the electoral process will not be allowed to succeed.
Addressing party leaders and cadres ahead of a Central Committee meeting at the party office in Chhetrapati on Sunday, Lamichhane said some forces are trying to exploit the country’s fragile situation for their own interests. He stressed that alternative political forces must remain united to counter such moves.

Referring to the Gen Z protests, Lamichhane said the sacrifices made by youths who lost their lives during the movement must not be forgotten. He claimed that certain groups are actively trying to derail the elections and cautioned that such efforts would be thwarted.
He added that fulfilling the demands raised by the Gen Z movement is unavoidable and reiterated RSP’s support to the government on issues of good governance, addressing Gen Z demands and conducting elections.
“There is no option other than going to elections at this time. There is also no alternative to fulfilling the expectations raised by the Gen Z movement,” Lamichhane said. He clarified that while RSP stands with the government on these agendas, the support is not unconditional.
