PANCHTHAR, June 16: Landslide victims in the western belt of the Taplejung District are facing food shortage.

The locals of Libang, Khokling, Santhakra and Thinglabu VDCs are facing food shortage as the landslide swept away their food grains along with their houses.

Similarly, the locals have said that the relief materials provided by the government on Monday were not sufficient to them.

A victim Jit Bahadur Ghimire complained that they had got nothing as reliefs so far and said they were taking shelter in a local school after the landslide swept away their houses.

The victims have further complained that the reliefs were only distributed at Libang and Khokling, however locals in the other landslide-hit areas are still waiting for reliefs.

Local leaders have urged the government to provide the relief to the victims via big choppers. RSS
