FNJ provides Rs 1 lakh to injured journo

NEPALGUNJ, Dec 1: Federation of Nepalese Journalist (FNJ) has provided Rs 1 lakh and two thousands to a journalist who was seriously injured in police firing during a protest against federal delineation in Surkhet district.



Amid a program held in Nepalgunj on Tuesday, FNJ President Mahendra Bista handed over the amount to journalist Aai Singh Rokaya. Rokaya, who was associated with Bulbul FM, a local radio, was injured in police firing at Dhamal Chowk of Birendranagar.

According to Suryamani Gautam, FNJ treasurer, the amount was provided to Rokaya with the support of International Media Support.


Speaking at the program, FNJ President Bista said that no journo would be deprived of treatment due to financial reason as the government has implemented the insurance program for journalists.
