“The main objective of the fair is to promote the export of 19 potential items that have been identified by the Nepal Trade Integration Strategy (NTIS) as highly potential exportable products,” said Bhaskar Raj Rajkarnikar, senior vice president of FNCCI.
The five-day event will have 350 stalls, showcasing both domestic and foreign products.
Kalyan Krishna Tamrakar, chairman of FNCCI´s Branding and Income Source Mobilization Committee, said the National Pavilion at the fair will have stalls of tourism, IT and BPO, hydropower, education and pharmaceutical companies, among others. It will also have stalls of handicraft and agro products.
Similarly, the International Pavilion will have stalls dealing on leather goods, garments, new technology and equipment, household goods, gift items, furniture, fashion wears and latest models of two-wheelers and four-wheelers, among others.
“The trade fair will be a platform for traders to promote their products to retailers, wholesalers and distributors, discover new opportunities, and interact with foreign exhibitors,” said Tamrakar.
According to the organizers, India´s Assam state has booked 40 stalls, while Pakistan and Bangladesh have booked 20 stalls each. China has also confirmed its participation in the fair.
FNCCI officials are expecting participation of more than 10 countries in the fair.
“We have also invited international buyers who have been importing goods. We will provide lodging and food facilities to the invitees for two days,” said Tamrakar.
The organizers will also provide opportunity for interactions and B2B meetings between national and international investors and businessmen during the fair.
“Many people are interested to participate in the fair. We have limited the number of stalls to 350 because of the lack of proper venue for big events,” Rajkarnikar said, adding, “We have submitted a proposal to the government to build international exhibition hall cum shopping complex with an investment of one billion rupees. For that to happen, the government should arrange us the required land.”
The first edition of Nepal International Trade Fair held in April had attracted around 135,000 domestic and 2,000 international visitors.
