According to Republica correspondent Bikram Giri, over 200 families displaced by the raging Mahakali River are still busy moving their belongings to safe places and are without food and water. No government office or NGO has provided them with relief materials as of Wednesday evening.
“I have nothing to eat,” said Bishnu Dutta Joshi, whose house in Bhimdutta municipality-11 was swept away by flood, adding, “Everyone is in trouble. Who can I ask for help? No one has come here to distribute relief materials. We feel if we are not the citizens of this country.”
Chief District Officer (CDO) of Kanchanpur Basudev Dahal said his office has no budget to provide immediate relief materials to flood victims. “We can provide Rs 5,000 to each of the displaced families,” Dahal told Republica. “However, we can distribute relief package only after collecting details of the displaced families.”
According to Republica correspondent Barun Paneru, Parshuram Dham, a holy place for pilgrims in the far western region, has been submerged with water due to recent incessant rainfall. Parshuram Primary School, which is in the same locality, has also been submerged after a distributary of Mahakali River entered the area. Some ascetics staying in temple have been rescued.

Meanwhile, according to Republica correspondent Amar Khadka, the water level in the Saptakoshi River on Wednesday rose to 189,940 cusec, crossing the danger mark of 150,000 cusec.
The Koshi barrage control room officials put on the red light, signaling danger. Of the total 52 doors of the barrage, 28 were opened Wednesday.
