SARLAHI, July 14: A pickup truck and a motorcycle collided at Railway Track Chowk in Ishwarpur Municipality, Sarlahi, on Monday morning, triggering a fire that left five people injured, including two Nepal Army personnel.
According to police, soldier Chandradev Dhami, 23, of Bhagwati Dal Battalion, Itahari, who was riding the motorcycle, sustained critical burn injuries, with 85 percent of his body affected. He was airlifted to Kathmandu by an army helicopter after receiving initial treatment at Model Hospital, Lalbandi.
Two households destroyed by fire in Rautahat and Sarlahi
Two others on the motorcycle- soldier Prashesh Chaudhary, 22, of No. 2 Disaster Management Battalion, Rasauli, and Amit Chaudhary, 21, suffered minor injuries to the head and hands.
The pickup driver, Ramekwal Mahato, 40, of Hariwan-3, and a passenger, Lekhnath Upadhyay, 65, of Hariwan-2, were also injured. All injured are receiving treatment at Model Hospital.
Police said the motorcycle was completely destroyed in the fire, while the front section of the pickup was damaged. Further investigation is underway.
