Ram Bahadur Tamang, Buddha Tamang, Rupesh Tamang, Krishna Tamang and Aitaman Tamang have been detained at the District Police Office for investigations, according to police inspector Eknarayan Koirala.
Police said they had stolen the cow from Shrestha´s cow-shed eaten its meat by killing at a nearby forest.
Locals had handed over the five to police after identity of the persons involved in the theft was revealed.
