KATHMANDU, April 1: The Ministry of Finance has removed the age limit required for appointments in its subordinate agencies.
Previously, there was a minimum age limit of 30 years and a maximum age limit of 65 years for appointments under the ministry. However, this age limit has now been scraped out. The government has made the second amendment to the Criteria for the Appointment and Nomination of Officials and Members of Public Bodies Affiliated to the Ministry of Finance, 2073.

This rule will apply to 15 institutions under the Ministry of Finance, including Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB). The previous guidelines stated that the age requirement for the executive head of an institution was 30 years, while other officials and members (excluding the executive head) needed to be at least 35 years old but not older than 65. Under the new provision, this age-related clause has been removed.
The relevant laws and regulations apply to the institutions under the Ministry. While these laws did not specify an upper age limit, the guidelines set by the government previously included such a limit. It was pointed out that setting an age limit in the guidelines conflicted with the law, and even the courts raised concerns about this. As a result, the Ministry of Finance has introduced this amendment.
