Final rounds of inter-school football begins

KATHMANDU, Aug 27: Red Star Secondary School of Morang and Sainik Awasiya Mahavidyalaya of Pokhara started with a winning note in the boy´s section of Coca-Cola Cup Inter-school Boy´s and Girl´s Football Tournament that kicked off in the capital Monday.



In the opening match held at Chyasal ground, Red Star edged past Deep Jyoti Vidyashram of Banke 4-1 with first two goals coming from Anil Sawa. Sawa opened accounts in the 23rd minute and doubled the tally 10 minutes later. [break]



Puran Rai and Tek Bahadur Limbu added one goal each for the winning side in the 38th and 67th minutes respectively. Bijay Gyawali scored the consolation the consolation for Deep Jyoti in the 45th minute.



In another match, Jeevan Kumal netted four goals for Sainik Awasiya of Pokhara as it thumped Siddhartha English Boarding School of Butwal 7-1. Kumal scored the fastest goal of the day scoring in the very first minute and added other three goals in the 10th, 27th and 55th minute. Dev Gurung scored a brace in the 46th and 63rd minute while Bimal Gurung netted in the 59th minute. Krishna Dhakal got the consolation for Siddhartha in the 31st minute.



Similarly, Him Shikhar English School of Sunsari edged past Sudur Paschimanchal Police School 4-1. Khem Raj Tamang got the target twice in the fourth and 42nd minute. Pradip Rai and Sanish Rai also scored one apiece for winning team in the 12th and 64th minute.



Meanwhile, Nepal Adarsha Awasiya Mahavidayalaya of Pokhara settled for a 1-1 draw against Devkota Public School of Morang. Krishna Dhakal opened scoring for Nepal Adarsha in the 31st minute while Lomesh Pandit scored the equalizer for Devkota 10 minutes later.



In the girl´s match held at ANFA´s Satdobato ground, Deep Jyoti Vidyashram of Banke, Bal Bikash Higher Secondary School of Nawalparasi and JP High School of Kathmandu started with victories.



Deep Jyoti Vidyashram edged past Public Higher Secondary School of Sunsari 3-0. Babita Salami, Bhadrakali BK and Indra Salami netted one apiece for Deep Jyoti in the 6th, 55th and 69th minutes, respectively.



Bal Bikash overcame Sri Kanara Higher Secondary School of Kailali 5-2. Jyoti Neupane and Rubi Khadka netted two goals apiece for the winning side while Kopila Thapa added another. Asarfi Chaudhary and Sangina Chaudhary were on target for Sri Kanara.



In the last match of the day, JP High School defeated Tops Higher Secondary School of Kaski 1-0 with a lone goal from Sunita Khadka in the second half.
