Filipino climber dies during Everest ascent

He passed away last night while resting at Camp IV, the DoT said. Santiago was climbing the mountain through Snow Horizon Treks and Expedition Pvt Ltd.

KATHMANDU, May 14: Filipino national Philip II Santiago died during his expedition to Mt. Everest, according to the Department of Tourism (DoT).


He passed away last night while resting at Camp IV, the DoT said. Santiago was climbing the mountain through Snow Horizon Treks and Expedition Pvt Ltd.

The DoT stated in a press release that Santiago reached Camp IV around 7–8 p.m. in an exhausted state and died while resting. Preparations are underway to bring his body down to the Everest Base Camp following necessary procedures.
