Exercise on for majority govt: Bista

BHAKTAPUR, Aug. 21: Minister for Energy, Gokarna Bista, has said that exercises for the formation of a majority government are underway though Prime Minister, Jhala Nath Khanal, resigned to pave way for national consensus government.



Speaking at an interaction on Sunday, Bista said the UCPN (Maoist) and the Nepali Congress are effortful to win support of other political parties for the majority government in the name of consensus government after they remained stick to their claim for government leadership. [break]



The UML central leader said that his party will not support any of the parties for the cause of majority government and the UML will make effort for consensus government till the last hour.



Bista said the parties should focus on the basis of national consensus government and added that the issue of leadership is not so crucial.



The Energy Minister said political instability is to blame for the lack of development of energy projects and claimed the long hours of power cut can be minimized if positive changes were made in the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA).



On the occasion, he said the NEA is expediting the dues collection to slash the total Rs 28 billion loss of the NEA adding that all vehicles given to the politicians were taken back and trend to procure the expensive vehicles was also ended.
