The event, being organized by Everest Bank under the aegis of Gokarna Forest Golf Resort, will feature golfers from Nepal, India, Malaysia, England and South Korea, the organizers revealed during a press conference held in the capital on Monday.[break]
The tournament will feature competitions in individual and team events. Three players will form a team for the team event. The team champion will be declared on the basis of scores of two players from a team.
The event will be played on 18 holes under 3/4 stableford handicap format. Five teams will compete from Nepal under the captaincy of Suhrid Ghimire.
The organizers have expected about 100 golfers including 35 from Malaysia to participate in the event. According to HP Kulkarni, assistant general manager of Everest Bank, the event will help promote tourism through golf. The winners will be awarded with attractive prizes, said Deepak Acharya, director of Gokarna Golf Club.
