Eric Valli honored with NATTA Sagarmatha Award

KATHMANDU, Sept 25 : Eric Valli, renowned French photographer and director of the Oscar nominated movie Caravan and Honey Hunters of Nepal, was awarded with Nepal Association of tours and Travel Agents (NATTA) Sagarmatha Award on the occasion of 20th NATTA convention held in Kathmandu for authoring books and movies that has contributed in the promotion of tourism of Nepal.

Caravan, directed by Valli is the first Nepali film to be nominated in the Oscars (Academy Awards) in 1999."When I came here in Nepal for the first time, I fell in love with Nepal. If I can be of help to Nepal, we can work together and I am always there to help Nepal," said Valli after getting the award, adding, "This country has given me so much love that it is an obligation for me to promote this beautiful country".

Chinese celebrity Ming-Yang Jiang was declared the goodwill ambassador of NATTA. Amrit Bhadgaunle of Nagarik Daily has received NATTA Travel writer Award.

Likewise, other journalists Raju Baskota, Shiva Shrestha and Shiva Adhikari received the awards for their contribution in tourism promotion.

Similarly, Dipendra Bahadur Kshetry, former governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, was awarded with NATTA Bhaskar Award.
