EPS language test for 2025 to open for 5,300 Nepali workers on August 11

Issuing a public notice on Monday, the EPS section under Nepal’s Department of Foreign Employment has called for applications for the first phase of language test 2025 to be held in Kathmandu.

KATHMANDU, Aug 5: The Employment Permit System (EPS) of South Korea is opening applications for the Korean language test for Nepali citizens from August 11 through August 16.



Issuing a public notice on Monday, the EPS section under Nepal’s Department of Foreign Employment has called for applications for the first phase of language test 2025 to be held in Kathmandu. The successful candidates will get placement in the manufacturing sector and livestock farming in South Korea.

The first phase of the language test has targeted to recruit 5,300 Nepali migrant workers. Of the number, 3,500 will be selected for the manufacturing sector and 1,800 in the livestock farming in South Korea.


The notice states that the number of recruitment may fluctuate depending on the demand for workers in Korea. A Nepali citizen between the ages of 18 and 39 years is eligible to sit for the language proficiency test. One person can apply for employment in only one sector.


In fiscal year 2024/25, a total of 14,224 Nepalis took labor permits to work in South Korea. According to the government statistics, more than 110,000 Nepalis went to the country as migrant workers, while 50,000 of them have been working at present.  


The South Korean government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Nepal in 2007 to recruit workers under the EPS system, and the recruitment process has been ongoing since 2008.
