On the occasion, Ambassador Pokharel conveyed best wishes to President Barroso on behalf of President Ram Baran Yadav and Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, according to a press statement issued by Embassy of Nepal in Brussels.[break]
During the meeting, he also expressed appreciation and gratitude for EU´s continued cooperation and support and also requested for upgraded level of cooperation of EU in Nepal´s changed historical context.
In response, President Barroso expressed his hope that Nepali political parties would find consensus to complete the various pending works of the new constitution, including the issues related to federalism.
He further said that the success of the ongoing peace and political process in Nepal is very important as it would send positive message around the world. He also vowed to continue EU´s support to Nepal in the days ahead, the statement said.
