KATHMANDU, April 5: US Ambassador to Nepal Dean R Thompson on Wednesday called on Finance Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat.

During the meeting, the US envoy expressed his concern over the risk that the projects under Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) compact could face due to possible controversies created at the local levels, according to officials of the Ministry of Finance. The American Ambassador underscored the safety of investments injected by the US funded projects.
Minister Mahat said the US has shown interest to inject more funds through MCC and USAID. According to him, the US is ready to invest more funds provided that the government will come up with specific areas that it pursues for development.
