Eight army generals withdraw petition

KATHMANDU, Sept 18: Eight Brigadier Generals of Nepal Army, who were pensioned off by the Maoist government in March but were reinstated by the Supreme Court, withdrew their joint writ petition on their term extension on Friday.



"The government has already extended eight army generals´ terms for the next two years. Their petition is now useless," said Co-spokesperson of the Supreme Court Hemanta Rawal.



Nara Bahadur Kandel, Nara Bahadur Rawal, Kumar Budhathoki, Pawan Bahadur Pandey, Pradip Bikram Rana, Shiva Kumar Poudel, Ramesh Bista and Raju Pratap KC had jointly filed a petition on March 23 challenging the Maoist government´s March 18 decision to retire them.
