Egg prices rise four times in 20 days

KATHMANDU, Dec 8: The price of eggs has increased four times within the first 20 days of Mangsir (November/December). The Nepal Layers Poultry Farmers Association (NLPFA) has fixed a new support price, which will come into effect from Tuesday. With this revision, egg prices are now much higher compared to the beginning of the month.

According to the NLPFA’s data, the price of large eggs was Rs 450 per crate on November 19. By December 8, it had climbed to Rs 565 per crate — an increase of Rs 115 within the period. The NLPFA had raised the price earlier on November 19, followed by further hikes on the 23 and 29.
