The EC drew the parties´ attention on Tuesday in the build up to the CA election announced by the Government for November 22.[break]
On the occasion, the EC also urged the parties to help remove constitutional and legal hurdles, appoint necessary office-bearers in the vacant posts at the EC, ensure security and manage financial, human and technical resources to make the election successful.
Acting Chief Election Commissioner Nilkantha Upreti said no initiatives have been taken to clear the legal and constitutional hurdles despite announcement of the date of the elections.
In the discussion, central member of the Nepali Congress Ananda Prasad Dhungana said his party would not fear the election but the people had not believed in the election announced without any ground.
Similarly, Yogesh Bhattarai of the CPN-UML said the election announced by the illegitimate government was impossible.
The EC had earlier discussed with the Prime Minister and Cabinet members about the election yesterday.
