KATHMANDU, May 2: The Election Commission (EC) has sought clarification from CPN-UML mayoral candidate for Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) Keshav Sthapit.
A letter has been sent to Sthapit asking him to clarify the question within 24 hours. The EC has maintained that the controversial statements made by him in various places including a college in Kathmandu has violated the EC’s code of conduct.

The EC has also sought clarification from the Women's Rehabilitation Center (WOREC) and National College in connection with the violation of the EC’s code of conduct. The WOREC and National College have been asked to provide clarification within three days.
Sthapit is also a former mayor of the KMC. He has filed his candidature for the post of mayor of KMC from the UML again.
