Organizing a press conference on behalf of Dr KC on Wednesday, Dr Ram Chandra Sapkota and Dr Suman Acharya told the media that the government's claim that it has been working to implement the Mathema report was baseless.Contrary to the recommendations in the Mathema task force report against expanding seats or opening new medical colleges in the Valley, the cabinet has decided to allow both, supporters of Dr KC said.
Likewise, no measures are being taken to limit the fee for MBBS study at colleges out of the Valley to Rs 3.5 million, which was one of the major demands of Dr KC.
"The government had agreed to appoint two medical experts and one independent lawyer on the Medical Education Commission for monitoring the colleges, but only one expert has been nominated so far," reads the press statement issued by Dr KC's supporters.
Meanwhile, the government has showed no sign of holding dialogue with Dr KC though his fast-unto death entered its fifth day on Wednesday.
The medical team observing his health said his condition was deteriorating.
Dr KC had ended his sixth hunger strike on September 5 after signing an 11-point agreement with the government.
But government's reluctance to implement the agreement and the Mathema task force recommendations in full has prompted him to stage the seventh fast-unto-death.
