KATHMANDU, Dec 20: Dr Bindu Nath Lohani has been appointed as the Chancellor of Nepal University for a four-year term, as per the provisions of the Nepal University Act 2081.
Dr Lohani holds a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, earned with a gold medal from Birla Institute of Technology, India, in 1970. He completed his master's degree in civil engineering from the University of North Carolina, USA, in 1974, and a doctorate in environmental technology and management from the Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, in 1977.

Beginning his career in Nepal’s civil service, Dr Lohani later served in various capacities at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for three decades, ultimately holding the position of Vice President.
Dr Lohani is an expert in development, environment, and management, and has published extensively on these topics and is recognized internationally in his field. He has received numerous national and international awards for his works.
