DAMAK (Jhapa), Jan 14: Deputy Prime Minister Kamal Thapa today said that all should focus on country’s economic development alongside implementation of the constitution as the country has entered a new era with the promulgation of the constitution.

He also stressed on the need for all to unite for transforming country’s economy.

DPM Thapa was speaking at an interaction organized by Damak Municipality in Damak, Jhapa.

He said that all political parties should work wisely for country’s development as many years elapsed without any fruitful results because the country had to pass through long transition.

Saying that ongoing protest enforced by the United Democratic Madhesi Front in the Tarai was meaningless, he said it was wrong way to press their demands by troubling people launching the protest and obstructing border points with India, causing an acute shortage of essentials in Nepal.

The Deputy Prime Minister, however, said that the government was flexible on the demands of the agitating groups through the amendment to the constitution.

Stating the Madhes crisis would end soon, he said, “No protest anymore. We all need to work hand in hand to strengthen nationality and prosper the country.”

Thapa, also Minister for Local Development, said that the government would hold consultations with various political parties soon to hold elections to local bodies. RSS
