DoFTQC raids seven sweet shops, destroys sweets, milk

KATHMANDU, Nov 6: The Department of Food Technology and Quality Control (DoFTQC) has raided as many as seven sweet shops and destroyed 15 kg of  substandard sweets and five liters of contaminated milk in the capital.



DoFTQC Information Officer Pramod Koirala said six kg of peda (caramel fudge) from New Dudha Sagar Mithai Pasal and five kg of peda have been destroyed from New Kolkata Sweets based in Kamalpokhari. [break]



The DoFTQC has directed them to keep kitchens clean.



Likewise, the DoFTQC has also seized three and a half kg of khuwa (peanut butter fudge) from Bhotahiti-based Chautari Sweets and warned of action against other two sweet shops for sanitary reasons.



Similarly, the DoFTQ has destroyed one kg of peda and 5 liters of milk from Narayangopal-based Upadhyaya Sweets.



The DoFTQC has taken action against it for its production room being unhygienic.
