Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Women Children and Social Welfare (WCSF) CP Mainali launched the campaign amid a program held in the capital on Friday. The minister said that thousands of children in Nepal are vulnerable to abuses and hoped that the campaign would help prevent all kinds of abuses and violence.
"Hundreds of thousands of children in Nepal are in search of safe destination and the devastating earthquake has led to the rise in the numbers," said Mainali.
The children and their family have become homeless due to the devastating earthquake of April 25. Quake victim children want to get rid of poverty, abuses and are on move from their original places.
"Several studies have revealed that children in alien places become victims of various kinds of abuses,” Pradip Dongol, Child Right Officer at Children Women in Social Service and Human Rights (CWISH), said.
He said that concerned social organizations, Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) and INGOs would launch awareness campaign and support programs targeting vulnerable children under the campaign. The campaign will be focused on 14 districts that have been the most affected by the magnitude 7.9 earthquake.
