JHAPA, Sept 21: Dengue infections are rising in Koshi Province, with Jhapa recording the highest number of cases.
As of September 19, 2026, the province had confirmed 793 cases across 13 districts, according to Smriti Luintel, a public health officer at the Koshi Province Health Directorate.

Jhapa had recorded 228 cases, followed by Sunsari with 203. The directorate reported 122 cases in Okhaldhunga, 82 in Khotang, 44 in Panchthar, 34 in Udayapur, 31 in Bhojpur, 20 in Morang, 18 in Sankhuwasabha, four in Dhankuta, three each in Solukhumbu and Tehrathum, and one in Taplejung.
Luintel said hospitals had also recorded 51 probable and two suspected dengue patients in various districts during the same period. Given the growing risk, she called for campaigns to find and destroy mosquito breeding sites.
