KATHMANDU, March 22: Defense Minister Manbir Rai has expressed the commitment to take initiative to open a road inside the outer wall of Gokarna forest under the Office of the Nepal Trust.
Inspecting the forest area located at Gokarneshwor Municipality-4, he assured of providing possible support to open the road by removing the wall.

Gokarneshwor Municipality had been demanding to open the road for a long time. It would be convenient to locals to reach Dakshindhoka and Mulpani from Gokarneshwor temple area once the road is opened.
Even the Bagmati corridor in the area could not be opened as the road alongside the wall to the west of the Gokarna forest has not been opened. Chairperson of Gokarneshwor Municipality-4 Jayram Mahat said locals would get relief from frequent traffic congestions that take place at the area above the Gokarna dam if the road is opened.
Lawmaker Shanti Shrestha told RSS that a group of lawmakers met with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli one month ago demanding to open the road and PM Oli had expressed commitment to take initiatives for the same.
