Death toll reaches four, 21 still missing

JANAKPUR, Aug 18: With two more dead bodies found Thursday, the death toll in Tuesday´s boat-capsize in Kamala River has reached four. Twenty-one persons are still missing.



Two unidentified dead bodies were recovered some five kilometers from the site of the mishap near Jayanagar, India.[break]



Earlier, on Wednesday, dead bodies of Sonafi Goit, 60, of Chikana-7 in Siraha, and Jivan Yadav, 10, of Chikana-3, were recovered from Malhaniya, some 15 kilometers from the accident site.



The missing have been identified as Kakul Yadav, 15, of Chikana-7, Pramila Yadav, 13, Anekha Kumari Yadav, 14, Sarita Devi Yadav, 35, Shiladevi Yadav, 37, Kusum Devi Goit, 38.



Similarly, Geeta Yadav, 14, Runa Yadav, 12, Babita Devi Shah, 30, Gangiya Mukhiya, 47, Sanischari Devi Mukhiya, 25, Chandra Devi Kusiyet, 35, her daughter Riya, 4, and Jagdish Das, 38, are also missing.



Some 11 persons managed to swim out of the river that flows along the border of Dhanusha and Siraha.



According to Nilam Devi Yadav, who survived by swimming out of the river, the boat fell apart as it was too old to hold the overload.
