KATHMANDU, June 6: CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal has revealed that Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba recently called him to inquire about the corruption case filed against former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal.
Speaking to journalists on Friday, Dahal said, “Deuba Ji called me yesterday. He specifically asked about the case filed against Madhav Nepal, wanting to know what had happened.”
Conflict victims slam ‘symbolic prosecution’
Dahal said he was surprised that Deuba, one of the senior-most leaders of the ruling coalition, was unaware of the issue. “I was taken aback when he asked me about it. I thought, shouldn’t I be the one asking you instead?” Dahal recalled telling Deuba.
He further stated that the conversation made it clear to him that Deuba genuinely did not know about the case beforehand. “Deuba Ji doesn’t lie. He’s a straightforward person, so I believe him,” Dahal added.
Dahal reiterated his belief that the case brought against Madhav Nepal by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) appears to be politically motivated.
