During the meeting, Dahal put forth his view before the president that this current government should be shaped into a national consensus government. Exiting from the meeting, Dahal told reporters that the state head urged him to take lead in forging political consensus. [break]
Last evening, the Maoist chief, while talking to media persons, had stressed that his party, by virtue of being the largest (in erstwhile Constituent Assembly) should get the leadership of the next government. [break]
He had optionally put forth three names if other parties do not agree on sitting PM Bhattarai´s name. Current DPM and party Vice-chairman Narayankaji Shrestha was his first choice. He had proposed the names of another DPM and MPRF-D Chairman Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar and TMLP Chairman Mahantha Thakur for the top post.
Also this morning, Nepali Congress (NC) President Sushil Koirala held a meeting with Gachchhadar. Seen as a contender for the PM post, Koirala is believed to have asked Gachchhadar for MPRF-D´s support to his PM bid, during the meeting. [break]
