Curfew lifted in Malangwa after 4 days, prohibitory orders still in place

MALANGWA, Sept 25: The curfew which had been in effect for four days in Malangwa of Sarlahi has been lifted from the afternoon.


During the District Security Committee meeting held at the District Administration Office in Sarlahi on Monday morning, it was decided to lift the afternoon curfew and implement a curfew only from 8PM to 4AM.


The meeting decided to put in place a prohibitory order to ensure communal violence does not take place in the city.

Due to the potential risk to the safety of the general public, any form of rally, meeting, demonstration, or the posting or distribution of propaganda materials like posters and pamphlets are strictly prohibited within the urban area of Malangwa.


Following the clash between two sides on the evening of September 21, the Sarlahi district administration office imposed an indefinite curfew in Malangwa to prevent any further untoward incidents.


Chief District Officer of Sarlahi, Indra Dev Yadav, has conveyed that the security committee will take action as per the law against individuals who spread false information and rumors detrimental to social harmony on social media.


He further cautioned the public against participating in disruptive activities like vandalism, arson, stone-pelting, and disorderly conduct. He emphasized the need to reduce incidents that disrupt social harmony and stated that strict measures will be taken against anyone involved in such incidents.
