Court grants bail to student leaders accused of assaulting police personnel

The Kathmandu District Court has ordered the release on bail of the student leaders arrested in the incident of beating up policemen in Thamel on February 6.

KATHMANDU, Feb 25: The Kathmandu District Court has ordered the release on bail of the student leaders arrested in the incident of beating up policemen in Thamel on February 6.


According to District Court Information Officer Deepak Kumar Shrestha, the Kathmandu court Judge Harka Bahadur Chhetri's bench issued an order to release all five arrested people on bail on Monday.

The court has ordered the release of ANNFSU Standing Committee members Kamalraj Joshi, Gopal Bahadur Shahi, Nabin Singh Airee and Dinesh Sigdel on a bail of Rs 10,000 each. Similarly, the court has ordered the release of  Ramesh Phulara on a bail of Rs 15,000.


They were arrested on charges of beating up security personnel on duty on the night of February 6. The group led by Joshi attacked police constable Jagulal Chaudhary and personnel Nagendra Raj Bista, who were on patrol at Kaiser Mahal area.
