Senior meteorologist Binu Maharjan at the DHM said the cyclone’s effects will be more pronounced in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, while moderate rainfall is likely in other regions.
She added that moderate snowfall is expected in the high hilly, and mountainous areas of Karnali Province due to the cyclone. Maharjan also noted that the system is interacting with westerly winds and a low-pressure area over the Arabian Sea.
Another meteorologist, Ujjwal Upadhyay, said the rainfall that began on Thursday morning will continue until Friday morning, with weather conditions expected to gradually improve from Saturday.
He explained that the rain in the Kathmandu Valley and surrounding areas on Thursday morning was caused by westerly wind activity, and that the full impact of Cyclone Montha would become active from Thursday afternoon.
