Fire breaks out at cotton industry in Bhaktapur

BHAKTAPUR, Sept 22: A fire broke out at the Manakamana Cotton Industry in Balkot of ward no. 2 in Surya Binayak municipality on Sunday morning. The fire reportedly began at around 5:00 am before workers arrived.

BHAKTAPUR, Sept 22: A fire broke out at the Manakamana Cotton Industry in Balkot of ward no. 2 in Surya Binayak municipality on Sunday morning. The fire reportedly began at around 5:00 am before workers arrived.


The Industry belongs to Sarita Chaulagain of Dingla, Bhojpur. The reason behind the fire has yet to be ascertained.  The fire spread rapidly after an LPG cylinder inside the factory caught fire and exploded, according to police.

Fire extinguishers from Kathmandu and Bhaktapur were mobilized to douse the fire. Nepal Police, Nepali Army, and local residents brought the fire under control, according to metropolitan police range, Thimi.


Cotton made out of old clothes, old clothing, machine, equipment, and other goods were gutted in the fire, according to DSP Shanti Raj Koirala. An investigation into the incident has been launched. Initial estimates show that property worth Rs. 2.5 million gutted in the fire.
